Please note that beginning with the April meeting the meeting day has been changed To the Fourth Monday of each month so that we can have the use of a larger meeting room at RJ's.



Our Annual Meeting will be held on June 21, 2010 at the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church at 630 PM. Tickets are $12.



There will be no meetings for July and August. Meetings will resume on September 27, 2010.


Welcome

The Bulloch County Historical Society brings together people interested in preserving history and heritage, especially that of Bulloch County, Georgia. The society is dedicated to the idea that knowledge of the history of one's community is basic to our democratic way of life. It gives us a better understanding of our state and nation and promotes a greater appreciation of our heritage. Regular meetings, special events, and publications sponsored by the Society help discover and disseminate the history of Bulloch County's people, institutions, and culture.



Smith Banks Passes at 73

Smith Callaway Banks, "Mr. History", died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Smith was a renowned authority on local history and geneology. He was one of the founders of the Bulloch County Historical Society, and was respected and loved by the members.



The GSU Museum is temporarily closed for HVAC renovations. Temporary exhibits and activities related to natural history and the Glyphs & Scripts exhibit are open at the Nessmith-Lane Building Monday-Friday 9-5.
